Friday Facebook Ads Tip #34: Retargeting Video Viewers

Video. Video. Video. Build audiences with video and retarget them with conversion-focused ads.

Step 1. Make a video.

Step 2. Set up an ad to show this video to a broad audience.

(Optionally repeat steps 1 and 2 with additional videos)

Step 3. Create a custom audience based on video views. It can depend on video length, etc. but I usually recommend views of 50%+.

Step 4. Set up a conversion-focused ad targeting your custom audience or depending on your product, use additional ads to further educate your identified audience on your product/service before focusing on the conversion.

Hey! Surprise! Surprise! I’m going to talk about video again. In last week’s video I spoke about using videos to warm up cold audiences, but I know some people are a little bit confused about how that process actually works.

So what I’m talking about is that ultimately you want to sell something to your target audience, or maybe you want them to sign up for something like a webinar, but just going out to a cold audience and trying to get them to make that purchase or sign up can be a tough ask – you want to warm them up.

And as I said before, videos is a great way to warm them up, but what you want to do is you want to set up campaigns using the Video Views objective or even the Engagement objective.

Then you create a custom audience based on how much of the video or videos that people have watched, and then you use the Conversion objective when you retarget people using that custom audience.
